Title:Wavefunction preparation using a quantum computer
View PDFAbstract: In this paper we describe a set of algorithms for preparing certain quantum states (representing continuous functions) on qubit ensembles. This research is part of a broader effort to develop techniques for digital simulation on quantum computers. We present an algorithm that prepares an ensemble of qubits into a wavefunction corresponding to a multidimensional Gaussian. This algorithm uses a very simple subroutine to prepare a set of independent one-dimensional Gaussian states and then employs a reversible transformation to produce an arbitrary Gaussian. These Gaussian states have applications in multidimensional resampling, a technique that allows for simulation of wavepacket stretching and squeezing using a fixed grid.
