Title:Exploring High-Temperature Superconductivity in the Extended Hubbard Model with Antiferromagnetic Tendencies
View PDFAbstract:The recent discovery of anomalously strong nearest-neighbor attractions in one-dimensional cuprate chains has brought increased attention to the Hubbard model with non-local attractive potentials, a common phenomenological model used to study superconducting phenomena. In this study, we revisited the superconducting problem in the extended Hubbard model using mean-field theory, exploring the possibility of achieving high superconducting temperatures within the BCS theory. By assuming an inclination towards antiferromagnetic order and deriving the gap equation near the critical temperature, Tc, we investigated the properties of Tc over a wide range of model parameters. Notably, we observed an almost linear relationship between Tc and the strength of the nearest-neighbor attraction. Theoretical analysis indicates a direct connection between this phenomenon and the presence of von Hove singularities near the Fermi energy. Our findings may imply that the mechanism behind high-temperature superconductivity originates from the flat band.
