Title:Superconductor relaxation -- A must to be integrated into stability calculations
View PDFAbstract:Quench is a short-time physics problem. A previously suggested dynamic (microscopic) relaxation model is re-considered and applied to YBaCuO 123 and BSCCO 2223 high-temperature, thin film superconductors. Parallel to this investigation, an unconventional approach using an electrical resistance network is applied to introduce a method how to estimate the extent by which, in resistance measurements, exact determination of critical temperature of superconductors is possible. The resistance model, when considering its numerical convergence behaviour, may provide in a side result also an alternative explanation, at least a contribution to, both bending of resistivity vs. temperature curves and the thermal fluctuations problem.
The dynamic relaxation model is a parenthesis that unites, in terms of the Ginzburg-Landau order parameter, (i) solution of superconductor stability problem (the main objective of this paper), (ii) a tentative explanation of bending of the resistivity curves near critical temperature and (iii) the thermal fluctuations problem.
As a conclusion, stability against quench cannot be obtained successfully without considering, in a microscopic view, excitations of the superconductor electron system raised by disturbances, and its relaxation to a new thermodynamic equilibrium.
