Title:On the labelling of characters of Weyl groups of type $F_4$
View PDFAbstract:In the existing literature on characters of finite groups of Lie type, there exist two different conventions about the labelling of the characters of Weyl groups of type~$F_4$. The purpose of this note is to point out some issues related to these two conventions, and to explain what needs to be taken into account when using tables concerning unipotent characters or the Springer correspondence for simple algebraic groups of exceptional type.
