Title:Transmit and Receive Cooperative Cognition: Protocol Design and Stability Analysis
View PDFAbstract:In this paper, we investigate the stability of cognitive cooperative systems. We consider and propose three systems. The first system is the cooperative secondary transmitter-receiver system ({\rm CSTR}), where, the secondary transmitter and the secondary receiver increase the spectrum availability for the secondary transmitter packets by relaying the unsuccessfully transmitted packets of the primary transmitter. We provide inner and outer bounds for the {\rm CSTR} system. The second system is the non-cooperative secondary receiver with no priority ({\rm NCNPQ}) queueing to any of the queues. In the second system only the secondary transmitter helps the primary user to deliver its undelivered packets by certain access probabilities assigned to each queue. The third system is the non-cooperative secondary receiver with priority queueing ({\rm NCPQ}), where, the secondary transmitter assigns priority queueing to the relaying packets. The maximum stable throughput regions of the considered systems are characterized. The results reveal that the maximum stable-throughput region of the {\rm NCPQ} is a subset of the maximum stable-throughput of {\rm CSTR} and {\rm NCNPQ}. Also, the maximum stable-throughput of the {\rm NCNPQ} is a subset of the maximum stable-throughput of the {\rm CSTR} system.
