Title:Modeling Neural and Glial Networks and the Ricciardi-Umezawa Proposal
View PDFAbstract:We propose a novel model of the neural and glial networks in the human brain which incorporates the glial network into the Hopfield model of the neural network. Our model is based on a microscopic construction of a quantum Hamiltonian of the synaptic junctions which incorporates Ricciardi and Umezawa's proposal on memory. Using the Eguchi-Kawai large N reduction on a linearized and continualized toy model, we show that, when the number of neurons and astrocytes is exponentially large, the d.o.f. of the dynamics of the neural and glial networks can be completely removed and that the Ricciardi-Umezawa proposal is consistent with the global functions of the brain which consist of spike activities.
