Title:On the R-grading for the Heegaard Floer homology of branched double-covers
View PDFAbstract:Seidel and Smith defined in arXiv:math/0405089 the symplectic Khovanov cohomology groups K_{symp}(L) for an oriented link L in S^{3} based on a braid b with braid closure L. In arXiv:math/0411015, Manolescu showed how this construction induces a Maslov grading R on the Heegaard floer hat homology group for D(L)#(S^{2}xS^{1}), where D(L) is the two-fold cover of S^{3} branched along L. Seidel and Smith have recently shown in arXiv:1002.2648 that R is an oriented link invariant via this connection with the grading on the fixed-point version of K_{symp}(L). Here we give a second (independent) proof that R is an oriented link invariant, following Manolescu's picture in arXiv:math/0411015. A reduced version of the invariant is then discussed, which gives a grading on the Heegaard Floer hat homology of D(L) directly. We then calculate the reduced grading for two-bridge knots and links and make some further speculations.
