Title:Gap Estimation by means of Hyperbolic Deformation
View PDFAbstract: Excitation energy of the $S = 1$ Heisenberg chain is precisely estimated using a nonuniform Hamiltonian, where interaction strength of $j$-th bond is proportional to $\cosh \lambda j$. The excited quasi particle is weakly bounded around the center of the system, and the width of the bound state $\Delta x$ is proportional to $1 / \sqrt{\lambda}$. Since the excited quasi particle is isolated from the system boundary, the excitation energy $\Delta(\lambda)$ is insensitive to the boundary condition. It is shown that $\Delta(\lambda)$ is linear in $\lambda$, and the extrapolation to the limit $\lambda \to 0$ gives precise estimate of the Haldane gap.
