Title:Attosecond Compton Streak Camera
View PDFAbstract: For the first time, we formulate a simple and transparent semi-relativistic analytical theory of laser-assisted attosecond Compton ionization and investigate in details Compton electron interference in the separable Coulomb-Volkov continuum with both Coulomb and laser fields treated non-perturbatively. Resulting scheme has a simple structure and leads to a closed-form expression for the Compton ionization amplitude. We focus on two main spectral characteristics: the energy-resolved spectra of Compton electrons and Compton lines. Using a hydrogen atom as an example, we lay emphasis on a delicate dependence of the spectra on the parameters of an x-ray pulse and laser field. We also present the beyond-impulse-approximation insight on Compton ionization and describe this process in a regime of semi-sudden perturbation. This approach is used to explain clearly the unexpected high accuracy of the theory of Compton profiles.
