Title:Berry Curvature in Graphene: A New Approach
View PDFAbstract: In the present paper we compute the Berry curvature terms relevant for Graphene in the presence of a lattice distorsion, using the generalized Foldy Wouthuysen framework developed by some of us \cite{ber1,ber2}. Our general expressions for Berry curvature reduce to the previously obtained results in the case of a constant lattice distorsion. We explicitly compute the additional components of Berry curvature that are induced by a non-constant lattice distorsion. We also show the presence of valley Hall effect from the dynamical equations of motion of the electron in the distorted lattice.
