Title:Approximate symmetry reduction approach: infinite series reductions to the KdV-Burgers equation
View PDFAbstract: For the weak dispersion and weak dissipation cases, the (1+1)-dimensional KdV-Burgers equation is investigated in terms of approximate symmetry reduction approach. It is discovered that the similarity reduction solutions of different orders exhibit astonishingly formal coherence which enables infinite series solutions and general formulae, respectively. For the case of weak dissipation, the similarity solutions of zero-order satisfy the Painlevé II, Painlevé I and Jacobi elliptic function equations respectively. For the weak dispersion case, the similarity solutions of zero-order are in the forms of Kummer, Airy and hyperbolic tangent functions.
